The IRC To Host Second Annual Resource Fair On May 20 as Numbers of IRC Guests Increase
Greensboro, NC May 14, 2026 – The Interactive Resource Center is hosting the second annual Resource Fair on May 20 with 40 vendors representing services from mental health providers, housing access, skill and workforce development, and other community resources. The event will occur from 10 am – 1 pm at the IRC, 407 East Washington Street. The event is open to the public. Food and prizes will be available.
The IRC Resource Fair offers a chance to build community and to connect guests and advocates to area resources. An unprecedented number of vendors requested to attend this year’s event.
The Resource Fair is coordinated by the IRC Guest Advisory Committee (GAC), a group of unhoused individuals who access the IRC’s services. GAC functions to advise IRC GAC Board staff members on how to effectively serve those experiencing homelessness.
“The resource fair is an application of the IRC’s mission to positively impact our flow of service, as well as to uplift the IRC’s role in the broader community, with insight from our guests,” says Katrina Bass, the head of IRC’s PATH Street Outreach Team Lead, IRC Leadership Team, and GAC Chairwoman. Bass explains the resource fair “promotes IRC interaction with the community, connects guests to more resources, and provides a space for collaborative care with other paraprofessionals.”
This resource fair comes at a moment when numbers of the unhoused are rising. The IRC is witnessing a particular uptick of individuals 55+ plus, as well as those in the 18–25-year-old demographic. This reflects national trends as housing costs increase compounded by current economic uncertainties and barriers to accessing mental health and other social services.
Resource Fair sponsors include Food Lion, DJ Trailblazer (Tony Clodfelter), Jerusalem Market on Elm, Beautisa, The Ward Family, Publix, and Liz Seymour.
The IRC is a low-barrier day center serving people experiencing homelessness. Since 2009, it has provided showers, laundry, mail service, case management, and other essential support. They provide a safe and inclusive space to be during the day. Although they are not a shelter, the IRC provides a day shelter from being in places where they are misunderstood.
